The Council of Fashion Designers of America will launch runway 360, which is a new digital platform for designers that is available all year.
The virtual platform will allow designers the opportunity to show their collections live, sell some pieces through ecommerce, host virtual press conferences and create showrooms.
Steven Kolb (CEO and president of CFDA), stated in an interview with WWD that the platform is "a one-stop shop for fashion". He stated that the platform would "incorporate all aspects a designer's business from shows, to press to sales and activations."
Runway 360 was launched in an attempt to connect designers and colleagues during a time when the fashion industry has been ravaged by the Covid-19 pandemic. The CFDA will launch the platform at NYFW this fall, offering designers modular, customizable pages that they can use to share their storytelling and digital activations.
